Come on out a learn about wilderness safety and enjoy a social community hike. Each week different wilderness preparedness skills will be discussed followed by a 40 minute hike on the trail. This program really enlightens you with what to have in your hiking tool kit, why you need it, and the different uses of items as they pertain to wilderness safety and survival when out on trails or paddling on the lake.
You will receive a folder on the first night and each week handouts will be given with reference to the material covered. We will cover backpack essentials, food, water, shelter, clothing, fire, navigation. The hike will be a relaxed pace walk, mainly flat through a 2.9km trail at La Barriere Park. Perfect for beginners, conversations and photos.
We will meet at the back parking lot by the bathrooms between 7:15pm - 7:25pm and start at 7:30pm. Dress for weather conditions. Bring a Water Bottle.
Get some exercise, have some social activity and fun while learning the skills to be prepared on the trails!

This program aims to get you active and build strength within a social atmosphere in the beauty of the outdoors. Each week we will walk a moderate pace 2.8 km trail through the park (which includes a pit stop at the bathrooms), then do strength training exercises using resistance bands (provided) and body weight to build muscle and end with stretches.
Bring your own mat and water bottle. Dress for weather conditions. We will meet in the parking lot of the toboggan slides between 9:45 - 9:55am and start hike at 10:00am. If it is raining, we will walk two loops instead of one. In increment weather, class will be cancelled and rain date will be June 27, 2023.

WEDNESDAYS - JULY 5 TO AUGUST 30

Build muscle strength and endurance using resistance bands (provided) and body weight to tone your body, increase your metabolism and prevent injuries during work tasks, play, or enjoying recreational activities. Emphasis on alignment and technique will ensure you develop functional strength and range of motion. Stretch and mobility moves included. Increase your stamina for daily living and recreation with muscle! Variations of exercises will be shown.
Bring your own mat, hand towel and water bottle. Dress for weather conditions. We will meet by the horseshoe pits between 9:45am and 9:55am. Class starts promptly at 10am. On rain days class will be held virtually on zoom.

WEDNESDAYS - JULY 5 TO AUGUST 30

A flowy mix of Vinyasa and Yin Yoga for deep stretches, relaxation and creating energy in poses. Embrace breathing deeply and connecting your mind, body and soul to move and create calmness within.
You will gain flexibility, mobility, balance and strength along with a deeper breath capacity and feeling of well being. Use of blocks and variations of poses will be shown so you can move at your own flow. Beginner's to intermediate welcome.
Bring your own mat, blocks/books and water bottle. Dress for weather conditions. We will meet by the horseshoe pits between 11:00am and 11:10am. Class starts promptly at 11:15am. On rain days class will be held virtually on zoom.

Looking to get outside and active with other women this summer? Then Summer Adventure Club is for you! Explore, Discover and Meet new people with outdoor activities of biking, paddling, and hiking that includes warm up mobility movements and post event stretches at different places around Winnipeg and Surrounding Areas.
Each week's activity and location is listed on the Sign Up page for Summer Adventure Club. So if paddling and biking are your thing but paddling isn't, you can choose what and when you want. Candace's experience, knowledge, strength and relaxed nature will lead a morning of fun and fitness for all.
Bring your own equipment and for paddle days, come with what suits you - SUP, kayak, or canoe. Purchase as block of 5, 8 or come as a Drop In. Beginner's to Advanced welcome.
